Description
Gold Logan MT5 Review
Gold is one of the most difficult markets for an automated trading system. XAUUSD can move aggressively within minutes, spreads can widen, and a strategy that works during calm conditions can struggle badly when volatility changes.
That is why Gold Logan MT5 caught my attention during this review.
Rather than entering constantly, the EA waits for several conditions to align before opening a position. It then uses ATR-based spacing if a recovery sequence becomes necessary.
The important question, however, is whether those safeguards genuinely make the recovery approach suitable for real trading.
After reviewing the current MT5 product documentation, strategy logic, requirements and available live-signal information, I would describe Logan MT5 as an interesting but still risk-sensitive Gold EA.

What Is Gold Logan MT5?
Gold Logan MT5 is an automated MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisor specifically designed for XAUUSD on the M15 timeframe.
The current MQL5 listing identifies it as version 2.92, updated on August 11, 2026. The product was originally published on June 25, 2026.
The system combines selective market entries with a recovery mechanism.
That distinction matters.
This is not simply a conventional single-entry strategy with a fixed stop loss. When an initial position moves against the EA, Logan can add positions using ATR-based spacing before closing the basket at its combined profit objective.

My Testing & Technical Review Experience
I approached Gold Logan MT5 with some skepticism because recovery-based Gold EAs deserve extra scrutiny.
The entry logic is actually one of the more interesting parts.
According to the current documentation, Logan checks three EMAs across multiple timeframes, ADX trend strength, tick volume, ATR volatility, spread conditions and candle momentum. The trade is opened only when the required conditions align.
From a system-design perspective, this is preferable to a robot that continuously opens positions simply because price has moved against an earlier trade.
I also noticed an important detail in the recovery architecture: the spacing is ATR-based rather than completely fixed.
That means order distance can expand when volatility increases and contract when volatility decreases.
However, this does not remove recovery risk.
A prolonged one-directional move in Gold can still create floating exposure. Traders should therefore evaluate the EA by looking at maximum equity drawdown, margin usage and worst-case recovery sequences—not just win rate.
The current MQL5 page reports backtests above an 80% win rate, but I would not treat that figure alone as proof of robustness.
How the Gold Logan MT5 Strategy Works
The strategy can be simplified into two stages.
1. Selective Entry
Before opening the first position, the EA evaluates:
- Three EMA alignments across multiple timeframes
- ADX trend strength
- Current tick volume versus recent activity
- ATR volatility conditions
- Current spread
- Candle directional momentum
Only when the conditions are satisfied does Logan open a trade.
2. ATR-Based Recovery
If price moves against the initial trade, Logan can add positions.
The distance between entries changes according to ATR rather than remaining fixed.
Once the combined basket reaches its predefined profit objective, the open positions are closed together.
This approach attempts to avoid the extremely tight grids commonly associated with poorly designed recovery robots.
Gold Logan MT5 Key Features
✅ Multi-timeframe EMA confirmation
✅ ADX trend-strength filter
✅ Tick-volume analysis
✅ ATR volatility filter
✅ Candle momentum confirmation
✅ Maximum spread protection
✅ Trading-session filters
✅ ATR-adaptive recovery spacing
✅ Configurable daily drawdown protection
✅ Fixed-lot or balance-based lot sizing
✅ Broker-specific configuration
✅ XAUUSD-focused M15 operation
✅ Hedge and netting account compatibility

The daily drawdown feature is particularly useful. When the selected combination of realized and floating losses reaches the configured threshold, the EA can stop opening new positions for the remainder of the day. There is also an option to close active trades when the limit is reached.

Performance Observations
One thing I would avoid doing is judging Logan MT5 purely by its reported win rate.
The current product page states that backtests consistently demonstrate win rates above 80%. It also currently displays live signals for TitanFX and VT Markets at different risk levels.
There are also recent user reports on the MQL5 listing showing positive short-term results, including one report of 47 trades with 8.73% gains and 10.83% drawdown. Those are user-reported results over a relatively short period, so they should not be treated as a long-term performance guarantee.
For me, the more important metric is how the EA behaves during adverse Gold movements.
A high win rate can look impressive while hiding substantial exposure in losing baskets.
Risk Management & Drawdown Analysis
This is where Logan becomes more interesting than a basic recovery EA.
The system provides:
- Daily drawdown limits
- Optional close-all protection
- Maximum spread protection
- Session filters
- ATR-adaptive recovery spacing
The daily loss mechanism is particularly valuable because it can prevent the EA from continuously opening new positions after a difficult sequence.
Still, traders should understand the limitation.
A daily drawdown limit is not the same thing as eliminating recovery risk.
During fast Gold movements, positions can accumulate floating losses before the protection threshold is reached. Position sizing therefore remains extremely important.
I would personally favor conservative settings over aggressive lot progression, especially on smaller accounts.
Pros and Cons
Advantages
✅ Highly selective entry logic
✅ Multiple confirmation filters
✅ ATR adapts recovery spacing to volatility
✅ Daily drawdown protection
✅ Spread and session controls
✅ Designed specifically for XAUUSD
✅ Supports both hedge and netting accounts
✅ Clear broker and VPS requirements
Limitations
❌ Recovery trading can still create significant floating drawdown
❌ Gold volatility can change quickly
❌ Performance depends heavily on broker execution
❌ M15 operation limits it to a specific trading style
❌ Short live history makes long-term robustness difficult to establish
❌ High win rate should not be confused with low risk
Who Should Use Gold Logan MT5?
I would consider it more appropriate for traders who:
- Understand Gold trading risks
- Are comfortable with automated recovery systems
- Can maintain the recommended account balance
- Use a suitable ECN or Raw Spread broker
- Have access to reliable VPS hosting
- Are willing to test the EA on demo first
- Understand drawdown and margin requirements
It may also appeal to traders looking for a Gold-focused automated trading system rather than a multi-currency EA.
Who Should Avoid It?
I would not recommend Logan MT5 to traders who expect every position to have a conventional fixed stop loss.
It is also unsuitable for someone who wants to maximize lot sizes on a small account.
Traders uncomfortable with grid or recovery mechanics should choose a different type of EA. The strategy may be more sophisticated than a basic grid, but it remains a recovery-based system.

My Opinion After the Review
Gold Logan MT5 is not a robot I would describe as a “set it and forget it” money machine.
Its entry architecture is considerably more selective than many basic Gold grid systems, and the combination of EMA, ADX, volume, ATR, spread and momentum filters makes logical sense.
The ATR-based recovery mechanism is also more adaptive than a rigid fixed-distance grid.
But the underlying risk should not be ignored.
The biggest reason I would consider Logan MT5 is its attempt to combine selective entries with explicit risk controls. The biggest reason I would remain cautious is the recovery component itself.
My verdict: Gold Logan MT5 is worth considering for experienced XAUUSD traders, but I would demo-test it first and start with conservative risk.
Do not buy an EA because of an impressive backtest or short-term win rate. Watch how it behaves when Gold does exactly what the strategy does not want.
